Adium X(tras) - My Picks

I said the script were cool. So here is links to some of my favourites.

Adium Googler - Search, from your IM window.
Adium iTunes Controller - As I mentioned in my previous post.
brb - This one isn't life changing, I only included it because I emailed some suggestions to the writer that I'm hoping they will include in the next version.
Define It - This lets you get either a definition or synonym of a word.
Movie Addict - Chucks in the name director and short description of a film.
Shakespearean Insult - Tune thy lute, thou beslubbering base-court bladder!
WhereAmI - Set a timetable for different away messages.

There are of course all the other visual and sound type extras too and probably even more scripts that you'd like, I have loads installed now.
Check it out.

Adium Wins

I did what I said I would do. I've been looking at the Adium Extras and now Adium is the clear winner. I'm still looking through all the scripts now. It's brilliant.
Get Adium, It's the best IM client as far as I can see.
What I'm enjoying the most is possible the scripts that make using my computer easier in general. For example if A track starts playing in iTunes that I don't want to hear, I just type "/next" and BANG! My iTunes moves to the next track.

SHIFT RETURN

That's another thing! I press shift-return and it sends. I wanted a new paragraph! That's with Adium.

AVP ... Adium vs Proteus

My legs hurt. On account of Taekwondo tonight at the place on Alma road. It might also have something to do with me missing Monday's class and being quite stiff. I missed Monday's class because I was ill over the weekend. The illness probably didn't help my fitness much either. Although the pain could simple be from knocking them against other peoples legs.

I'm torn between two IM clients at the moment. Adium and Proteus.
I got Proteus because when I was rushing to get an IM client that would work around the university's port plugging fetish. I overlooked Adium at the time because I rushed through the preferences and didn't see the little checkbox that says "Use the HTTP connect method" or the blatant entry field for the port under the heading "Server". So I was using Proteus, and I liked it. It certainly beats MS Messenger. But now I'm using Adium and I'm not sure which I like more. Proteus seemed to have better handling over the status side of things, but Adium is nice in so many other ways. I haven't been using it for long, so I think what I need to do is check out the extras and then make my decision.
One thing that bugged me about Proteus was that when mail came through, I couldn't go straight to that email. Adium can't do that either as far as I know only MS Messenger can. But when I got a mail through on Adium it told me who it was from in a pop-up. That was nice I thought.
The great thing about both is the fact that you can have a display picture, something that it seems stupid MS Messenger can't do.
Combining more than one service into one client is another major benefit of both.
Another thing that Proteus did that was annoying was close the message windows when it disconnected. Which happens quite a with MS' messenger service. The automatic reconnect I like but it did play on my mind that someone may have said something to me while I was out of the room, got disconnected, reconnected and then it looks as if nothing ever happened when I got back in the room. This probably never happened because no one wants to talk to me, but if it did ... how would I know? Simple, check the message logs that I believe Proteus keeps. But I can't be bothered to do that. It's probably more than two clicks away.
I found Adium had it's own little disconnect reconnect horror though. After leaving my computer for several hours I returned to find my screen littered with alert messages, every time it reconnected to MS messenger service it told me I had mail. That alert box only goes away if you 'OK' it. There where a few that needed closing, it was a bother. I suppose that would be really handy for individual new mail though. You wouldn't miss them when out of the room.
Anyway, if you're using a Mac and Instant Messaging with either MS Messenger or more than one client, I highly recommend picking up either a copy of Adium or Proteus

Camberwell Spud

Pete et Camberwell Carrot
Sent a phone picture of me with a spliff in my mouth to my mother. This was the reply.

I don't smoke by the way. I hate smoking, I will never smoke. It looks cool in films, but in life it is horrible.
I have nothing against cannabis by the way. I have no problems with this form of illegal drug use, just some of the unfortunately associated crimes.
So kids, don't smoke, and make sure your dealer isn't a dickhead.

Linwood Blood

A man stands strong in his stance in the centre of the Taekwondo fighting ring. Just in-front of him SCÜD stumbles out of the ring and past the referee.

REF: You alright Scud?

SCÜD: (Clutching his neck) I can taste blood!

I went to a new class today, one I haven't been to before. Since there exams and things going on there is no more university class on account of the sports hall constantly being needed for the sitting of the exams. The university class was on a Wednesday from 6:30 to 8ish or something.
There is another class on a Wednesday and so I though I would go along to that one. I found the place I was supposed to be Linwood Primary School but of course had no idea where to go from there. I phoned Bryan, the guy who told me to be there at 7 and woke him up. While waiting for him I spoke to the instructor and learnt that there were infact two classes. There is a traditional class from 7 to 8:30 and a sparring class from 8:30 to 10. The traditional class was mostly children, well it would have been completely children if me and Bryan hadn't shown up. So we decided to take both classes. £3 very good value for students.
The nippers class tired me out quite alot.
I was tired by the time it got to sparring.
I was dead by the time to go home.
We started off the sparring class with some target practice which was fun, repeatedly doing spin kicks improves them alot, I would do them in the street all the time but the target really makes the difference and there's often not enough room.
Then we just fought. One after another we stepped into the ring and just gave each other a good kicking. Or bad kicking in my case.
I know my kicking was bad because I have multiple injuries that are all due to my bad technique, not from being kicked.
Bryan kicked me in the neck (we were only doing body shots) which may seem harsh but it was only because I leaned into his kick.
In the practice my foot started bleeding, I must have caught one of Bryan's nails or something.
In sparring I managed to get a nice huge graze up my shin, not sure how.
My favourite one though is my bruised foot. It went black. It's only patchy purple now but it looked really nice and lumpy just after I did it.
I didn't get my arse kicked by a bunch of Koreans, they just stood there and I bust myself on them.
It was quite fun though.

My Fears Urinating

Pop over to Creative State and in the first issue have a read of a piece titled "A Pee Should Be Free" by Russell Norris. It is pretty much exactly how I feel.

Tidy Room

My room needed tidying and it got done. It was philanthropistic procrastination that did it. Gavin was revising for an exam and so spared thirty five minutes of his time to my room.

End Ball

Here are photos that I robbed from Holly on the 8th of July 2004, I know that because I wrote it on the CD I burnt.
You can see the collection and image comments by visiting my Flickr set of them. You can see a slide show there too.
To visit the Flickr set click on any of the images.

The following are from the last day of school.

And these are from the end of school ball.

As far as I know all the photos were taken by Holly.
